Engineering technology

On Friday the year 6 were learning about engineering and what civil engineers do in their jobs. We read a book called the impossible bridge and learnt about different types of bridges. We found out that an engineers favourite shape is a triangle because it can hold a lot of weight. Thats why lots of bridges are made out of a lot of triangles.

Then we made different bridges to test out to see if triangles are stronger than squares; which they were! Finally we made the shape above out of lots of triangles. The more triangles that you add the more it looks like a circle.
